The human being is an honourable creature on earth. Almighty Allah declares in the Qur‘ān, “Indeed We have honoured the Descendants of Adam.” Thus, mankind deserves respect, love and sympathy create a sense of adoption among different nations and generations. However, on some occasions, Islam insists to develop a sense of distinction and distance while developing relations with other religions to preserve the identity, legitimacy, universality and comprehensiveness. The interfaith relationship is one of the most significant state matter in the Islamic world. This research paper is intended to find the guidelines from Sīrah regarding interfaith relationships. The discussion made in the paper includes strong and valid arguments in the light of the Qur‘ān and Sīrah. Determining four fundamental dimensions according to the teachings of Sīrah and Islamic history for the relationship with other religions, the article explores the role of interfaith relations during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and companions in the expansion of Islam as a precept for the contemporary Muslim states. Abiding by the Divine guidance for the interfaith relationship, Muslims can bring back the glory of Islam in today’s world that ensures prosperity, dignity and peace in the Muslim countries.
